Background
History
Malay gained independence in 1957, but was later a colony of Britain. This colony became Malaysia. Proposals of Singapore combining with Britain in efforts to gain Malaysia resources. They were on there way to independence by 1960. In 1962, Singapore was ready for the merger. However, in 1963, Singapore dropped the idea of a merger and Malaysia became fully indepenent. 1966 came and Malaysia started receiving eternal threats. These threats came from the Philippines and Indonesia.
Culture
LanguagesThe official language of Malaysia is Malaysian language. Sound funny, but thats the native tongue. Those who do not speak Malaysian language speak Chinese and Tamil.

ReligionMalaysia's main religion is Islam, but a fifth of the country also follow the Buddhist faith. A tenth of the country practices Christianity. Religion plays a large role in Malaysian culture.

Food
Popular dishes in Malaysia consist of barbequed meat and tropical fruits. Pictured on the right are chicken Satays. Satays are barbequed sticks which make a common meal for Malaysians. Beef Rendang is a dish were they dry hot beef and season it in spicy coconut. These dishes are usually sided with rice and other vegetables. Many seasonings are very spicy. They love a little spice to the seafood and crawfish. You will enjoy the cuisine!

Blue Malta GrottoThe Blue Malta Grotto is on the southern coast of Malaysia and is home to water caves. You can take beautiful boat trips through the caves.
